However, I don't see the Obama flag thing as immediately racist. Could just be Southerners actually expressing support for Obama. I don't see that as a big deal.

The First Amendment protects someone's right to express his opinion about a statement as much as it protects someone else's right to make a statement in the first place.
Just because people have the right to say anything they want doesn't mean they should. It also doesn't mean they won't look like dicks for doing so.

It's not a freedom of speech issue - this is not a public forum regulated by the government. This is a privately-owned website, so they can do whatever they want. In this case, they did the right thing and deleted that post.
