i thought the first 45 minutes were pretty funny...after, it was kind of the same joke less well played for the next hour.

I agree. It eventually retrograded into the Borat "on the road in search of..." schtick.
That business with casting babies and the proud stage parents' affirmations thier child would be "fine" with whatever was, frankly, shocking.

Most of his shtick would be fine in a one hour show like he had with Da Ali G Show on HBO, but it gets a bit tired in a long film format.
So watching a gay guy makes you guys tired?
No, the same joke for 1.5 hours gets tiresome. Doesn't matter if it's Choen or Eddie Murphy delivering the joke. That is why most of the morning DJ and Roy D. Mercer types are just boring.

Anyway, I've been reading reviews on this and I don't know. The critics love it but all of the user reviews have been "loved Borat, this sucked, nothing but a gay porn and should be NC-17."

There's funny, and then there's just crossing the line to get a response out of our burned out conscious. I for one, will choose not to waste my money on this film.
