    Griffin's restraint

I'm so glad Blake does not retaliate when these other players take cheap shots. Imagine how hard that would be when you know you could destroy someone, but you just have to ignore the bait. While I am proud of BG for not taking the bait, I would love to see what one nice punch from him would do to one of these idiots.

I don't think we will see a player like him for a long time. His incredible play and personality will inspire kids from east coast to west coast.

Dodd is absolutely right, but outside of the "mystery" injury at UTerus, the officials have done all they could do, in most cases, and throw the offending goon out of the game. If there are any official-types out there on this board, I would be interested in your take on this. My neighbor, who is the hockey coach at South Florida, watched the film on some of these hits, and absolutely believes that some of these coaches are sending in goons for the reason(s) that Dodd stated. Regardless of what Coach Capel says, with the pasts that some of these coaches have had, it wouldn't shock me that they are sending goons after Blake. It would be tantamount to a September call up from the BoSox aiming one at Derek Jeter's head, just to get him to fight, and face a suspension. The call up doesn't care, but the Yanks would be without their star down the stretch...The only thing that I think you could do is warn the opposing coach before the game about such actions, and threaten ejection of the coach if the ref determines that it was malicious and intentional (like Morgan State was).

    Re: Griffin's restraint

He is doin' the No. 23 jersey proud at OU I am convinced by now that if anyone retaliates against any of these BG hits, it will not be BG, but rather, TG.

Taylor gets extremely mad at people picking on his younger brother. Like anyone else that has a sibling, I've reasoned that it's ok for Taylor to pick on his brother, but NOT ok for anyone else

ESPN's version isn't that Griffin is showing restraint, but that he is soft.

    Re: Griffin's restraint

Most of the ESPN guys are used to seeing Big East thug ball ala John Thompson and expect that as a matter of course. I guess they would think that other great bigs like Kareem, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and Olajuwon were soft as well for not retaliating. As a matter of fact, I remember some of those same folks contending that Duncan was soft as well for not retaliating. It's called discipline and self-restraint.

So basically, ESPN is saying the Blake is being too much like Barack Obama and needs to be more like Ba-ROCK Obama.

And people wonder why those of us from Oklahoma take such offense when others criticize OUr state and its citizens.

If I was built like Blake, I would have already handed out several *** kickings. I probably would even wait for a cheap shot. Of course, I would probably be banned by the NCAA by now.
