He doesn't look 6'9, but he's a wide body and right before half he drove for a layup and he looked like a solid ball handler.
Looks like we have a very nice prospect coming in next season. Moves well for a 300lb'er. ESPN guys love him!! Great free throw shooter. I am surprised how well he dribbles the ball for a man his size. Passes the ball very well, on rebounds, he gets the ball upcourt very quick to start the fast break.
His nickname is "Tiny", there is nothing "Tiny" about this kid.

While he IS reamarkably quick and agile for his size I'm thinking how much better he could be at a lighter weight.Don't like the the idea of him playing in 5-7 minute spurts like Pittman of UT.

Going to be interesting to see how his freshman year stacks up to Griffin's freshman year.
Bobby Joe Evans pre-injury is EXACTLY who he reminds me of. He has lost quite a bit of weight already but my guess is he will be another 20-25 lbs lighter at least after a year in the program if not sooner.

I think Gallon will be good, but I don't know if I would go that far.
Well, Gallon's also going to have a lot more talent around him than Griffin did his freshman year, assuming Willie Warren returns.
Scratch that-even if Willie goes pro, Gallon will have more talent on the team with TMG coming in and who we have returning than Blake had around him his freshman year.

Willie would be crazy to go pro, he has shown that as good as he is he still has alot of work to do. He disappears at times and gets into the playground ball at times which is fun to watch but doesnt do the team any good

Evans could have been so good. I got to see quite a bit of him, and people seem to forget that he was a Kelvin recruit. An OFFENSIVE-minded post player. And, I'll tell you what, some of those early Sampson teams would have looked and played a lot differently in the NCAA's with a running game (ie - post game; it's a football reference) to go with the perimeter game we already had...
Let's just say that, in 1996, we would have rolled out this lineup:
- Dion Barnes
- Nate Errdman
- Ryan Minor
- Bobby Joe Evans
- Hootie Wiley
This would have allowed us a bench of
- Ernie Abercrombie, (or he could start and we bring Bobby Joe or Hootie off of the bench, depending on who the other team has... that way we've always got a specialist on the court, depending on what we need, and they each play to the other's weakness, which helps chemistry a great deal... Anyway...)
- Jason Yanish, ('cause, God bless him, he was never a starter...)
- Tyrone Foster, who was fun 'cause he was kinda ghetto; like, "is this a work-release thing for him," ghetto. It was nice to see that in an OU uniform again. The early 90's were tough on all of us, man.
- Robert Allison, who was much better suited to be a ninth man than he was a 6th man, or starter; Michael Cotton as a freshman wouldn't have had to see the court before he was physically ready - then maybe he wouldn't have lost his love for the game, or whatever...
Anyway, we had Bobby Joe for most of our games that year, but he only started 18. He was playing hurt all year long. Then, in 1997, he played hurt all year long that year too, missing 8 games, and starting less than half of the team's games.

We'd be bringing in Hootie Wiley, Alex Spaulding, Robert Allison, and Renzi Stone off of the bench. All guys that, at one point or another, saw significant playing time (except for maybe Allison) and were all upperclassmen. With that starting lineup and that bench, I don't think we're an easy out in 1998.

Skull, that was always my criticism of KS before he got us into trouble. I always felt like he recruited ballers that could run up and down and he stuck them in a slow down, half court offense(especially the last 5 or 6 years he was at OU). That never made any sense to me, I know it was his style but it always seemed like he was either running the wrong style or getting the wrong type of players
