Thinking about getting an Ipod.....

so I would like to ask the fellow SF.commers for recommendations.

Nothing too fancy; probably something in the $50-$75 price range. Mostly just want to download a bunch of songs from my laptop and I would also like to have one with a built-in voice recorder. And, more importantly, good effective headphones.

iPods all pretty much come with the same headphones. Decent, but nothing special.

Is there an iPod with a voice-recorder feature? I don't think there is... unless by "iPod" you mean "some sort of mp3 player device, not necessarily manufactured by Apple". In which case I have no idea.

For your price range all you're looking at is the iPod shuffle. $49.99 for a 1 GB or $69.99 for a 2 GB.

You can purchase an accessory for the iPod that will allow you to record.

And the headphones that come with an iPod are terrible.

Which are admittedly overkill for about 80% of the library on my iPod. On the other hand, the lossless tracks really sound nice.

If you can pay 50 bucks for an IPOD, I would do it with absolute zero doubt. It's worth it. It's always there for you, if your responsible.

Just for grins you might want to send these to Shure, sometimes they'll replace things that you just wouldn't believe.

Also, some models of the professional line of Shure in-ear monitors are pretty affordable. I keep the SCL2's and SCL3's in stock and personally own a set of the 3's. For everyday use the 2's are more suitable for listening to music, the 4's are truly rockin', and the 5's are from another planet.
