    Huckabee Co-chair endorses Obama

MANCHESTER – Fred Bramante, a member of McCain's New Hampshire Leadership Committee and a 2008 Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention today announced his support for Senator Obama's Campaign for Change.

Bramante, a Co-Chair of Gov. Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign and former Republican gubernatorial candidate, is a past Chairman and current member of the New Hampshire State Board of Education. His endorsement marks the first time nationally that a delegate or alternate delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention has publicly announced their decision to support Sen. Obama.

I'm sure this is somehow the fault of the communist MSM.

He must have been using all that time he put in with the Republicans to call dibs on the stuff he wants after the glorious socialist revolution next Tuesday.

Bramante strongly opposes school vouchers, apparently.

Which is even odder, because I'm relatively sure that Huckabee's a big school voucher guy as well.

That's all you need to know. The NEA and the educational bureacracy supports BHO because they expect a BHO administration to shower them with dough.

which won't fix doodly squat about our failing public educational system, but at least the "employees for life" therein will be making more money

Gotta love the 1-issue voter. Although having school vouchers be the one issue that causes the switch seems a little odd. I've seen abortion and death penalty and some of the other biggies cause people to switch their vote but not something like school vouchers.

Ima vote for Bob Barr because I don't like McCain's stance on animal husbandry!

Odd statement to make, considering 1) the guy is a staunch Republican to begin with and 2) Obama has supported merit-based pay for teachers, which has made him no friends in the NEA.

Beyond that, he was a School Board member, not an educator. Big difference.

WTF is a state school board? Here in Oklahoma, we have a state school board association, which is a lobby for public education. I think its prolly the same in NH.

I interpret the title the title he bore to mean he was the equivalent of that Sandy Garrett lady who is in charge of the Oklahoma State Dept. of Education.

From the NH Department of Education website:

The State Board of Education is a seven-member body whose members serve without pay except for reimbursement of expenses incurred in the performance of their duties. Members cannot be technical educators or professionally engaged in school work. Members are appointed by the governor and executive council. Five are selected, one each, from the five executive councilor districts and two are selected from the public at large. Except when appointed to fill the unexpired term of a previous member, members serve for a five-year term and may serve up to two consecutive terms. The Board must hold at least six regular meetings a year.

So no, I think you had the wrong idea of what it is.

sooo, appointed by former NH Governor Dean (D) perhaps? You know, the Former Commissar in Chief of the Peoples Republic of New Hampshire. gotcha.

Man, your spin is getting desperate on this one.

The guy was a Republican gubernatorial candidate. Hardly a Howard Dean disciple.

In fact, it appears Bramante ran against Howard Dean at least once.
