Has there ever been a faster backfield in college football history than the 1987 Game of the Century II Sooners?
Anthony Stafford
Patrick Collins
Charles Thompson

At least I'm not Jersey Sooner.
That was the one I was going to throw up there. Stafford was a legit AA sprinter
Autoerotic asphyxiation is my anti-drug.
Can you think of anything that would rival it? I have heard all about the Pony Express, but I cannot remember if the QB was a speedster.

West Virginia looked really fast.
I disagree. There's an old saying: "You don't have to be faster than the next man; you only have to fake him out of his jockey shorts."

There's also an old saying: "There's no such thing as an All-American tailback. Just chicken-$hit tackling."
"It was once said—only half facetiously—that the three greatest organizations the world has ever known were the Imperial German Army, the Roman Catholic Church and the Standard Oil Company. Inasmuch as the Imperial German Army was demobilized in 1918, it is doubtless high time that a new candidate be proposed to fill out the triumvirate, and one strong contender—most sport fans would agree—is the University of Oklahoma football team." ~ Tex Maule, Sports Illustrated, November 18, 1957
I dunno how fast Mildren was, but he was pretty da*n fast, and Greg Pruitt and Joe Wylie were the backs. The OU offense of '71 either averaged more points per game, or had the highest average # of yds per game, evar! and I think the record still stands.
Put a lid on it! Kiss it goodbye. We gave it away, and apparently thought it made sense to do so.
I heard an old scout say Charles Thompson was rated the 6th best runningback to take in the draft if he hadn't gotten into all the troubles

I started to read this thread but I got distracted by Leroy's avatar. Man that's discusting.
Even ugly dogs need warmth and kindness.

A backfield of Thomas Lott, Kenny King, Billy Sims, and David Overstreet is not to be sneezed at....unless you're a defense that's allergic to speed.
"I'm going to request that you stop posting in this thread." - circa 2008
"Why does there have to be so much immature stuff on here?" - circa 2010

I thought this was going to be about Shelly-Ann Fraser.
Heh.
... that's not food.
I would go with 87, as well.
SoonerinabileneOh sweet jesus. Its like watching the special olympics in high definition on here now.
Joe Wylie, Greg Pruitt, Grant Burget, Wayward Waymon Clark were all fast.
The 1971 backfield fast for the times, but none of the players could outrun Stafford or Collins.
