    Nuri al-Maliki "endorses" Obama

    From a July 19 interview:

"Whoever is thinking about the shorter term [for withdrawal] is closer to reality. Artificially extending the stay of U.S. troops would cause problems.... As soon as possible, as far as we're concerned... Those who operate on the premise of short time periods in Iraq today are being more realistic.... Artificially prolonging the tenure of US troops in Iraq would cause problems. U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes."
Does this significantly help Obama? Does it hurt McCain? Will Bush get al-Maliki back in line before he heads for Crawford?

I say no way Bush EVAR gives in to the idea of a timeline as long as he's in office. He'd rather let someone else deal with the mess, but how do the R's spin this?

Well, the Chinese "endorsements" of Clinton back in the 96 election sure helped him...

Maliki's a ******. He seems pretty unappreciative of our efforts in Iraq which is interesting since he wouldn't be in his position if we hadn't overthrown Saddam and done everything we could to make things as easy as possible on their new government (including overlooking the fact that they weren't doing squat).

You know Nuri al-Maliki means Merry Christmas in Hawai'ian right? And BHO was allegedly born in Hawai'i. Conspiracy?

Problem Solvers often turn to fresh ideas when trying to get things accomplished.

Looks like the guys who've been buttering his bread showed him the butter knife in a semi-threatening way.

They don't have to do what we say. If they're a sovereign government, they're sovereign. He does need to learn to keep his mouth shut and do his negotiating behind the scenes. His comments over the last few weeks have been disrespectful to the Americans who lost their lives to give his country a chance for freedom.

I'd say that looking at the body count of your own Countrymen has to skew your ability to recognize the losses shared by the folks who helped put you into power. Nobody is perfect.

I just watched Lawrence of Arabia yesterday.

So many folks have had a hand in trying to help the folks in the Middle East for years.

The thing is...they can't even get along with folks of the same faith.

We're really getting in deep in Iraq.

I'm saddened everytime I see George Stephanopoulos report on this weeks US Troop loss. I don't think it's disrespectful to want it to stop.

I'd imagine al-Maliki would like it to stop on both sides.

Hopefully whether it's McCain or Obama in office....it will stop.

    BTW...

The Taliban are still threatening us.

If ever there was a Country that needed the help that Iraq got...it's Afghanistan.

Malicki was voted for by the Iraqi people in an exceptionally brave act of democracy at the time. I don't think he was Washington's "choice" either....I can't remember the name of the guy that was.
