The short version is: Sallie signs with NU out of prep school, enrolls part-time at NU while awaiting clearance from NCAA (or maybe doesn't enroll, it looks like the courts will decide this), doesn't get clearance, goes to JUCO, resigns with NU, NU assumes he will get waiver of Big XII rule that states you can't be enrolled without clearance at Big XII school and come back to play at Big XII school later, doesn't get a waiver, now Sallie needs a school (he is a pretty well regarded player) and NU has no incoming players eligible in 2008-2009.(Our German recruit has to sit out the upcoming season)
