Doesn't having someone else send out a 'Personal thank you note' to a list of volunteers in a mass e-mail, sort of make it impersonal?

Srsly, it was a 'personal thank you note' from someone at the university, sent through someone else to a mass e-mail list.

i get one of those at the end of each semester from the Dean of the college. it has my name on it, but passes usually through 2 forwards down the secretarial food chain until someone actually looks up the proper email addys.

the opening line says, "Dear King Crimson, I'd like to personally thank you....hard work, blah blah blah....etc."
