    mp3 question

Does anyone know how to strip the vocals out of an mp3 to essentially make it a karaoke version of the song? Is there a program that will do this relatively easy for you? Or is this process way too complicated to explain over the innerwebs? TIA.

M, I'm sure there must be some karaoke bar that has "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw" in its library. We'll keep looking. Everything doesn't have to be a DIY project, for heaven' sake.

Unfortunately, in the songs I've tried so far, it's stripping out the instrumentals and leaving the vocals.

    Re: mp3 question

Unless the vocals are on an entirely separate track from the rest of the song (which is highly unlikely in a format as compressed as mp3) the best you can do is use a program to strip out the frequency bands that mostly carry the human voice. However, this will also strip out any istrumental parts that play in the same range, which will also kill a lot of horns, mid-range guitar, keyboards, etc.

So the answer is: without some pro-quality mixing software AND a copy of the tune in all its original tracks (which pretty much no one outside of the recording studio will have), you're not really going to be able to achieve what you're wanting.

    Sorry to be a downer.

I think I am falling in love with M.
It could be the Boulevard Wheat.
    Could be the gonja.
    Could be the Nutella thread.
Could be all of the above.

M's lovely vocals would more than make up for any instumental's that got deleted.
