The movies are extremely loosely based on Ludlum's books.
In the books the girl never gets killed off, and by the Bourne Ultimatum, Bourne is married and about 50 years old kicking people's asses with his mind.

I need to watch The Kingdom . . . we watched the Bourne Ultimatum the other night and liked it, but I agree that they shouldn't make another one.
Viggo was goo in A History of Violence, so I might have to give Eastern Promises a look see.
