Auburn has joined an elite club
Auburn is now one of just nine schools to have at least 3 Heisman winners
The other members of the "Triple Heisman Club" are:
Army (3)
Florida (3)
Michigan (3)
Nebraska (3)
Oklahoma (5)
Notre Dame (7)
Ohio St (7)
USC (7)*
*Reggie Bush gave his Heisman back and O.J. Simpson is, well, in the penitentiary -- but not for murdering his wife. ;)
The "Double Heisman Club":
Florida State: 2
Georgia: 2
Miami: 2
Navy: 2
Texas: 2

OUr #6 should be next year.
Re: Auburn has joined an elite club
AND they'll be only the second school to have to give it back for being big fat cheaters!

Yeah, why does it have to be either/or? I want both, too.

exactly....this is why usc would do it all over again..thats why auburn would do it all over again..
its worth in the present the prize even though it could hurt their future.
Re: Auburn has joined an elite club
...and the only deterrent to that would be an SMU type death penalty.

Yeah, I was seeing all these people talking about how it's worth it and wondering if any of them watched 30 for 30 last night.
Stoops obviously didn't think it was worth it or Rhett Bomar would never have gotten kicked out.
Re: Auburn has joined an elite club
Bomar wasn't even in the same class as bush or newton...
and, the death penalty will never happen again

Well maybe he would have if he'd been paid more.
And don't bet on it. Same type of situation, and I'd bet the NCAA would pull the plug again.
Re: Auburn has joined an elite club
As an article that I read stated, one person on the committee said the OSU wrestling program came the closest in 1992 while he was on the panel. Pat Jones said the OSU football program came close during the Hart Lee Dykes debacle. What really gets it to that point is repeated violations while on probation, that is what did SMU in. They were penalized and didn't care and the booster kept doing it and the administration did nothing to stop it.
Re: Auburn has joined an elite club
Billy should have won it twice. Charles White, seriously. look at the yard per carry.

Man, if the NCAA cleared him, he's clean. Those people are a bunch of *******s and I'm sure they tried to find a way to nail him.
