This movie is absolute genius and is as good as Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, or Fargo. Tom Hanks is great in it, and the wierd cast makes for classic Coen Brothers greatness. I have never laughed so hard at someone dying in my life. They are now forgiven for Intolerable Cruelty. I just want to say one more thing. "You brought yo BITCH to the Waffle Hut?!?"
good to hear. i'd sort of lost some enthusiasm for Bro's Coen of recent. the man from nowhere was pretty average, outside the gorgeous-faux film noir black and white.
How quickly we forget O Brother Where Art Thou.... And The Ladykillers is currently at the top of my Gotta Go See It list.
Is Intolerable Cruelty really that bad? Me and the mrs. were planning on ordering that on ppv later this evening
I thought that Intolerable Cruelty was just average by Coen bros. standards, but well above average for a major studio movie. Besides, George Clooney is about a million times better actor in Coen bros. films than he is otherwise. It's worth a PPV shot...
Just got back from seeing The Ladykillers... I absolutely must say: "Float like leaf on river of life... and kill old lady."
Really? This is the first positive review I've heard of this movie....everyone I know who has seen it says it was horrible. Movie tastes are always relative I guess.
I thought The Ladykillers was pretty good, too, but I've heard that the original movie (released as a British comedy back in the '50s) was pure comedy greatness.
