Some really impressive hockey to kick off the playoffs. The Wild's backup goalie Harding had a great night, but those 2 goals by Chicago were some of the prettiest goals you will see all playoffs. The Blues really took it the defending champion Kings. They probably should have won it in regulation if not for a late goal to push it to overtime and then you have to love the hustle by Steen to steal the puck from the goalie to put the game away.
If you're a lonely hockey watcher (and who isn't if you watch hockey) check out 4chan.org's /sp/ board during games. They'll usually have live threads for pretty much any sporting event out there (it's also worldwide, so you'll sometimes see Canadians spout off on how superior they are... to fellow Canadians and Murricans alike). Probably the best part about that arrangement a few seasons ago was seeing them come up with fun images making fun of notoriously bad Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo (compared to Boston's Tim Thomas). One particular game it was 7-0 Boston, so they were all like "Roberto 7uongo Tim Th0mas" followed up by Ro8erto Luongoooooooal! They also alerted me to live feeds of the downtown Vancouver rioting, which were about 10 seconds ahead of our live TV broadcast. I'd shout over to NP "Something bad must have just happened, they're going crazy" and he'd be like "Nothing happened...oh. Boston just scored again." Long post short, here's hoping a Canadian team (or two) is in the finals. They are the craziest of the crazy.
I watched the first 5 minutes of Redwings/Ducks when Detroit took an early 2-0 lead (at Anaheim, no less). When a should-be brawl didn't happen, I turned it off. Sounds like I missed an exciting game though.
Hockey has one of the best playoffs of any sport. I try to watch as much as I can. I have only been catching one game a night so far though. Hopefully I will be able stay up a little later tonight though.
