Gotta give it time. Strong seems to have the defense rolling. We'll have to see if he can fix that offense.
First thing Charlie needs to do is fire the Special Teams coach. Next, he has to kick his OC's butt and tell him if he can't get plays called in a timely fashion he will join Special Teams coach in the unemployment line. He might also want a to get a graduate assistant to stand next to him at games who will whisper in his ear what to do in situational moments.
What Charlie needs to do is learn to kiss the big money asses or else he won't last long. That is what Mack and Royal were so good at.
They are all full of confidence on the UT boards. The feeling is Strong has turned UT around and gotten rid of the bad apples, so this team now has heart, as demonstrated by their comeback yesterday - teams under Brown would have folded and gone to the fair. That's fine and dandy, but they are really down talent-wise, by UT standards. Instead of their usual team of underachieving talents, they are now a hard-playing but low achieving team of no talents. Strong needs to recruit well and survive the onslaught which will hit him next season if UT has another bad year. He's one year away from scorn, racial comments and jokes, and pessimism, and talk of getting Patterson, unless he can turn it around that quickly. I kind of like the guy and think he is a good coach, so part of me actually feels for him.
We'll be alright. This 2-4 team could just as easily be 4-2 had it not been for a FEW untimely mistakes. We weren't expecting a whle lot from this team, given the injuries and suspensions. We will be good. We need to be. The big 12 sucks when UT or OU are down. I didn't expect us to win yesterday, and yet, it still felt like xmas morning. The RRS is even better when we're both ranked.
Yep, it's about a lot more than being a good coach in Austin. I believe the guy is a very good coach, but that's only half of the job there...time will tell.
If Texas can't beat OU with doubling us in yardage and time of possession then that doesn't portend very well for their being able to beat us in the future. This was their best shot at getting a win and they came up short. If I were a Texas fan I would demand that he be fired immediately.
That wasn't the point. The point is that in '15 and '16 Texas won't be facing an OU offense that looks materially different from the ones they faced in '13 and yesterday. They stopped for the last 2 years, why don't they have a chance to stop it the next two?
they are all gitty about "almost" winning a game.....we played like crap and beat them... they are all on like cloud 9....and they are 2 wins and 4 loses...that is how low they have gone. I pray we are not all happy and running around in joy about our team ever being 2 4....unreal.....
You don't have to worry about that. OUr fans melt down if we are 6-0, but the OC isn't calling the plays the way we want. :highly_amused:
