It's amazing that we have almost 60 pages of posts on this retarded topic. A sooner fan is a sooner fan is a sooner fan and there are no prerequistes for being one either!
Alright, here's my opinion. I'm 14, and I have been a Sooner fan for about 5 years, and a Boiler since i was born. I say you don't have to be born in Ok or have to have been there to be a fan, but i know what you mean about the whole bandwagon deal. I always say I'm a Sooner fan, and say it proudly, even when I'm talking to the kids at school who areHook 'em fans, and OU just lost the Red River battle. Just as I do with Purdue. Even now in another bad season, I'm a proud Boiler. I'm a sooner fan because, I really want to go to college there and get a degree in meterology. (I'm involved in many ways with the Weather Service out here ) went to the SPC a couple of time and got to stop by the OU campus too Hope you get my point.
So, if you didnt attend OU, and then you can't be a "fan" (original premise) If you want to support the Sooners, what are you? A "Sooner Liker". heh. Indy, good luck with your intentions, I too, hope you become an OU student. TCS has it correctly, a couple of posts above.
Sometimes I wish I was only a Sooner Liker and not a Sooner Fan so OU would quit calling me at dinnertime wanting more donations to the school of business, law school, athletic department, meter maid defense fund, etc.

On an odd note, how many tickets do you think I'll be able to get through OU for the Firday night showdown with Tulsa? Are they hard to get? I can usually get two for away games (every one last year) so I think I have a decent amount of points.
