One of my son's former roommates, an OU grad, called to let him know that he is having surgery tomorrow. Apparently he had a heart attack two weeks ago and a stroke last Thursday. Both were minor and have left no lasting effects. But he is 26 years old. He doesn't appear to have any risk factors - weight, activity level or diet. So please keep him in your thoughts. And encourage your friends to get annual checkups.
Having had a minor stroke myself at 14...IT CAN HAPPEN PEOPLE! Don't smoke...make sure you exercise...and EAT WHEATIES! I'm most definitely in on this one.
Well, he made it through surgery, thank heavens. Hopefully he will go home the end of the week. He is getting married in June. If you haven't had a physical in the past year, schedule one ASAP. It is the smart thing to do. Prevention is a heck of a lot better than rehab.
