    Fixed.

Did the tools on ESPN predict that this year's USC would have beaten 1995 Nebraska when they were doing their Greatest Team Ever schtick?

It does for those of us who grew up watching Charlie Ward and Tommie Frazier. ;)

We only won one but the 83ish to 86ish years for the Sooners was as good as any dynasty evar ('cept maybe the 47 straight crew).

Those are just 2 names from some non-Sooner teams in an era that took a hiatus from importance. Much ado about nuttin'.

herb picked USC, May picked NU. The national vote was 53% in favor of USC. All before USC even played in the Rose... I rooted for Texas just for that reason, so everyone on USC's nuts would look dumb, ESPECIALLY ESPN.

I was thinking the '87 team or the 2001 CoCanes would beat USC, even before the Rose Bowl.

I can't seem to find the poll to vote for USC as the best team EVAR anywhere on espn.com. Why is that? supa

Nebraska's 1995 squad was much better than anything thrown out by anyone from 2000-2005, except the 2001 Miami Hurricane team. The thing about the '95 Husker and '01 Hurricane squad was that the defenses were as lethal as the offenses.

Think about the '01 Hurricane team defense. Eight games where opponents scored 7 or fewer points. In four of those, opponents scored 3 or fewer points; and, three of those were shutouts. They gave up only 117 points in 12 games.

Nebraska's 1995 offense was amazingly powerful. They hung 62 on Florida in their bowl game. No one had come closer than within 11 points of the Gators that year...until Nebraska ripped them with 38 point margin of victory.

Nebraska '95 and Miami '01 just dominated anyone in their pathway.

I think all three regular season undefeated teams last year could have beaten both the condoms and the whorns this year. That USC team was a shadow of the team that played us.

The mid 90's Nebraska teams are up there with the OU 50's teams as the best ever in a 5 year run. Lets look at the records of those teams from 53-57.

    50-2-1
    2 National Championships
    3 undefeated seasons
    5 conference titles
Top 4 in the final AP poll all 5 years.
    Average score 33.6-6.6
    47 game win streak

    Nebraska's 5 year run 1993-1997
    60-3
    3 national championships
    4 confernece championships(lost to Texas in 96)
Top 6 in the final AP poll all 5 years
    Average score was 42.8-17.5
26 was their longest winning streak.

Our run in the 1970s from 71-75 wasn't anything to sneeze at either:

    54-3-1
    2 national titles
    2 undefeated seasons
    4 conference titles
37 game unbeaten streak (1 tie in 1973 to USC kept it from being a 38 games winning streak)
    26 game winning streak
