    "It comes down to who is going to be the most consistent," said coach Bob Stoops. "We'll tally everything and see where it comes out. It will go from week to week. Just because you win it at this point, if you go out and miss 70 percent of your balls, that guy won't be in there four weeks later."

    Most kicking game positions have been settled. Tress Way, an All-America candidate, is the punter and freshman Michael Hunnicutt will kick off. Walk-on senior quarterback John Nimmo will be the holder. Freshman Austin Woods is the short snapper. Junior James Winchester returns as the deep snapper.

    Ryan Broyles will return punts. DeMarco Murray will return some kickoffs, especially early in games. Stoops prefers running backs on kickoff returns. Mossis Madu will return some kickoffs but is suspended for the opener.
