News conference at 7 PM Oklahoma time (the judge in the trial was supposed to rule at 8 PM CDT). They have been in very intense negotiation since it became apparent that the Sonics' attorneys had administered a beatdown of epic proportions in court. The city began negotiating in earnest, however Sonics' OKC-based owners would not settle until the Howard Schultz case against them was dropped. He has agreed to end his case, and this clears the way for a settlement, which has now been signed and will be announced shortly. Or, at least, that's what I have been told.
Looks like Dio got it to the board before I did. I'm leaving this thread over here though, at least for a while, as a general interest thread.
You've stolen my line. I have been saying the exact same thing for some time, but for the first time ever, I now believe this is a done deal. The ink literally HAS dried on the dotted line on this one, at least as far as the settlement goes.
That makes absolutely no sense. Unless you're talking about them being half-black. The Sonics do have a disproportionate number of white stiffs on their team.
Wow. My information about the Schultz suit was not correct. It's still kicking. They get a refund from Seattle if he prevails. Guess that shows how much the partners think of that suit. Like Clay suggested, it's "baseless."
The best part is that now people going to the UW game this season can wear their OKC "Sonics" gear around town.
Get ready for some awesomely craptacular hoop, ppl. These guys are gonna suck for awhile, I'm afraid.
