yeah, tough game. OU just never really got in sinc...weird. For a while he had more hits...a tough 2 out HIGH pop-up to short that was dropped, run scored hurt. The wind was brutal.

Our bats handcuffed again last nite in loss to OSU. Sure hope they get healthy this weekend and then vs. ORU next week. Last nite was the first of an eight game home stretch. Hopefully the sticks will get back on track.

    Doubleheader today.

OU takes both games. 17-4 and 4-3

Along with our 4-2 win on Friday, we complete the sweep.

I don't know what the hell we thought we were going to accomplish with a pathetic out of conference schedule. This isn't the ACC where you play a bunch of nobodies and you watch your RPI skyrocket every year, win or lose. The only two teams that have a decent RPI in the Big 12 is UT and Tech. Tad lock is a good coach so I don't think he will let Ray pitch them out of games. KU has the next best RPI in the high 50's.

You do realize this is Sunny's non-conference schedule. And it was worse before Pete got here: Pete took a look at it and about died seeing how weak it was and called in some favors to replace a couple of real nobodies with Rutgers and Seton Hall.

Sunny was always hell-bent to get those 40 wins (strong rumors that he had a clause in his contract for a bonus if we got 40 wins). He knew his team was going to be inexperienced and young this season so he *REALLY* underscheduled. Pete, luckily, believes in more of a stronger non-conference and the two teams he brought in (Seton Hall and Rutgers) will do more for our RPI than nearly every Big 12 series. Even if they aren't of the ilk we'd really want coming in here, it was a pretty good coup to call in favors and get them at such late notice to replace the Western Illinois and Oaklands of the world!

HV, this is a ridiculous statement. Pete came in and added some decent RPI teams from out east because of how bad the schedule was. Replaced a couple of directional schools, also added some decent mid-week games. Pete's stated that he wants to improve the RPI for postseason play. Let this play out for more than two months.

HV has been upset since SG left so must have strong ties to SG. That's fine, just go to Auburn boards and follow him there.

Huge series this weekend against UT. IMO we need to win two to stay near the top of the standings. Hope the hitting stays strong and starting pitching stays in a few more innings than they have been lately.

I don't know how you can say any different. Baseball schedules aren't made two to three years out. There may be one sereies, i.e. Pepperdine last year, that we have a home and home scheduled with. Our OOC schedule, except for midweek games, is done and our RPI is 70. He added some East Coast teams to our schedule that did nothing but hurt our RPI. The mid week games that are on the schedule are the same schools we have been playing for 20 years in the midweek. It is not like he came in and contacted those teams. As I said before, we have to beat UT and TT to gain any RPI strength.

Rutgers is 51 in the RPI and Seton Hall is 78. Those would be in the middle of the pack in the Big 12, which is pretty good for non-conference series. Not sure how they "hurt" our RPI any. In fact, to this point, Rutgers is the highest-rated RPI team we've played.

The fact some of our opponents that are usually at least semi-decent (in the 100-200 range usually) are having very down seasons (Santa Clara, CSU-Bakersfield, Belmont and Manhattan) are what's hurting our RPI. Along with the fact that Abilene Christian is now being counted in the RPI, when before the season they weren't going to be counted (they are a transitional D1 team ineligible for the postseason this year -- usually those teams aren't counted in the RPI and they weren't for the first month of the season, but for some reason they've been added now, including the official NCAA RPIs, which is just odd.) It certainly isn't those Rutgers and Seton Hall series.

And, yes, you're absolutely right the schedule isn't made two or three years out, but it was pretty much set by July, which is when Hughes got here. It wasn't written in stone -- hence, he was able to replace a "Western Illinois" and an "Oakland" with Seton Hall and Rutgers -- but there was little wriggle room as most were already handshake agreements. We should count ourselves lucky to get those two teams on there instead of more sub-200 RPI teams.
