    NORMAN
    – The Jalen Hurts era, short though it is guaranteed to be, got off to a rousing start Saturday night in Norman, as Hurts broke the school record for total offense in a debut game, and had the second-most rushing yards ever by an Oklahoma QB in the Sooners’ 49-31 win over Houston. Overall, Hurts accounted for 508 yards of offense by himself, including 332 yards on 20 of 23 passing for three TDs and 176 yards rushing on 16 carries for three more...

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The Sooners secured their unprecedented fourth straight Big 12 Conference championship, a College Football Playoff berth, and avenged their only loss of the season with a 39-27 victory over Texas Saturday afternoon at JerryWorld. The Sooner defense played its best game of the season, holding Texas to a season-low 88 yards rushing and coming up with a critical safety in the fourth quarter.

NORMAN – Same story, same result. Same as last year and so many years before. The Sooners and OSU locked in a tight battle that always comes out in our favor, ín defiance of the law of averages. The 48-47 win keeps the Sooners in the driver’s seat in the Big 12 heading into the final two games of the season.

Kyler Murray was once again criminally efficient, going 21 of 29 for 349 yards and a TD, and adding 66 yards rushing....

NORMAN – In a game that started out, most disturbingly, looking like a carbon copy of last season’s affront to defensive football in Lubbock, the Sooner defense held Texas Tech to seven points over the final three quarters, and the Sooners defeated Tech, 49-27 Saturday night in Norman. Mike Stoops opened the game in a three-man front, which was shredded by Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. But a switch to four defensive linemen completely changed the game.

The Road Warrior Report - Orange Bowl CFP Semifinal Review - December 30, 2018

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – The pundits said we didn’t have a chance, not with our dumpster fire of a defense. In the end, they were right, as it took the Sooner offense a quarter to get going against Alabama’s defense, and by that time the Tide were up 28-0. The Sooners outscored the Tide 34-17 from there, but it was too little, too late, as Bama prevailed 45-34 and advanced to the CFP National Championship Game for the fourth year in a row.

Murray was stellar after a bad start, going 19-37 for...

MORGANTOWN, WV – The Sooners defeated West Virginia 59-56 Friday night in Morgantown, punching their ticket to Arlington for a rematch with Texas and a shot at their unprecedented fourth straight Big 12 title. That much, including the score, really shouldn’t have come as any surprise to anyone. What was a surprise is that the Sooner defense, which was abjectly incompetent most of the night, punctuated that futility with a couple of moments of brilliance that...

The Road Warrior Report - Florida Atlantic Review - September 2, 2018

NORMAN – The pundits said the Sooners would take a step back this year. After all, our offense lost the Heisman winner at QB, and our defense was awful last year. They figured we might face a fight from a Florida Atlantic team that was on a 10-game winning streak. Of course, these are the same people that figured we’d face a drop off in the backfield after Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine left, and the same people who keep ranking Texas in the preseason. While...

The Road Warrior Report - UCLA Review - September 8, 2018

NORMAN – The jury is still out in many ways, but the Sooners’ 49-21 defeat of UCLA on Saturday afternoon on Owen Field demonstrated that OU’s defense may actually be back. The first team defense held the Bruins to seven points before a couple of garbage time touchdowns late in the game, shut them down on the ground, and spent all day in the UCLA backfield. The OU offense, while finding tough going in the ground game, still put up 49 points in a blowout win....

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – It always seems that the Sooners have to lose a game to start playing their best. I hope that what we saw in Fort Worth wasn’t their best, but it was better than we have seen recently, particularly on defense. The defense held TCU to only three points in the second half, helping the Sooners to a 52-27 rout of the Horned Frogs.

Kyler Murray was 19-24 for 213 yards and four TDs. The Sooners did most of their damage on the ground, gashing the...

The Road Warrior Report - Kansas Review - November 18, 2018

IMG_9246.JPG NORMAN – The Sooner defense, admittedly hampered by injuries, put on perhaps its worst performance of a bad year Saturday night, surrendering 40 points and 524 yards to lowly Kansas in a 55-40 win on a frigid evening at Owen Field. The Sooner offense, on the other hand, did not punt and scored seven TDs, failing to score only because of a pair of turnovers and running out the clock at the end of the game.

Kyler Murray was brilliant once again, other than a second...
