The Road Warrior Report - Texas Review - October 10, 2021

DALLAS – In the highest scoring OU-Texas game of all time, OU mounted its largest OU-Texas comeback of all time, and the largest comeback of all time by any team against Texas, winning the game 55-48 after falling behind by 14 in the first two minutes of the game and 28-7 in the first quarter. Spencer Rattler was benched in the second quarter after two turnovers in favor of true freshman five-star recruit Caleb Williams, who led the Sooners to victory in...

The Road Warrior Report - Kansas State Review - October 2, 2021

    IMG_8623.JPG

MANHATTAN, KS – in their first true road game of the season, against a pesky Kansas State team that had upset them two years in a row, the Sooners finally started looking like we all expected them to look, at least on offense, as they took a 17-point third quarter lead en route to a 37-31 win over the Wildcats. Other than a turnover and kneeling out the game at the end, OU scored every time they had the ball. The Sooners moved to 5-0 on the season and 2-0...

NORMAN – In a game that was a slog from beginning to end, the Sooners held their only lead as the clock hit zeroes in the fourth quarter, as Gabe Brkic’s 30-yard field goal on the final play gave Oklahoma a 16-13 Big 12-opening win Saturday night in Norman. The walk-off winner was believed to have been the first final play walk-off field goal in 127 years of Sooner football history.

The Road Warrior Report - Nebraska Review - September 19, 2021

    NORMAN
    - The Sooners defeated Nebraska in Norman Saturday by a score of 23-16 in a game that harkened back to the rivalry games of old, at least in terms of score and how quickly it was played. Despite the lamentations of those who expect things to go a certain way, this was an entertaining ball game throughout and a solid win over a Nebraska team that showed better than they have all year.

On an afternoon when possessions were at a premium (each team...

The Road Warrior Report - Western Carolina Review - September 12, 2021

    IMG_7290.JPG

NORMAN – Oklahoma was going to destroy Western Carolina. That outcome was a given. The question was how they would go about it after a lackluster second half effort against Tulane that saw the Green Wave come from way down to threaten to win the game at the end. There was no such lack of focus this week, as the Sooners indeed destroyed Western Carolina by the final score of 76-0.

Spencer Rattler was sharp in one half of play, connecting on 20 of 26...

The Road Warrior Report - Tulane Review - September 5, 2021

    IMG_7182a.jpg

NORMAN – On a steamy day in Norman that was supposed to be a steamy day in New Orleans, in front of a weirdly empty stadium, the Sooners did not punt and at one point scored 30 unanswered points . . . and had to hang on by their fingernails in the final minutes to eke out a 40-35 win over a game Tulane team. The Sooner defense forced four fumbles and recovered three of them, but Spencer Rattler threw a pair of interceptions. Gabe Brkic hit four field...

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Oklahoma ran for 435 yards, broke the Cotton Bowl record for total offensive yards, tied the game record for points scored, and registered three interceptions in the first quarter en route to a 55-20 blowout of the Florida Gators at AT&T Stadium Wednesday night. The win closed out the Sooners’ pandemic season at 9-2, along with their sixth straight Big 12...

The Road Warrior Report - Baylor Review - December 6, 2020

    IMG_6036.JPG

NORMAN – In what was a weird game, likely affected by practice disruptions and missing players as a result of the COVD postponement last week, the Sooners beat Baylor last night, 27-14. The Sooner offense was sluggish, to say the least, but the defense was stifling most of the night.

Spencer Rattler was 20 of 28 for 193 yards, two TDs, and a pick. Theo Wease led all receivers with five catches for 66 yards and a score. Rhamondre Stevenson had five for...

The Road Warrior Report - Oklahoma State Review - November 22, 2020

    IMG_5560.JPG

NORMAN – Saturday night, in the first home night game ever against Oklahoma State, Oklahoma did, well, what Oklahoma does. Whether by a little or a lot, Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State. This night, it was by a lot, as OU rolled to a 41-13 win in which Aggy did not score in the second half.

Spencer Rattler went 17-24 for 301 yards and four TDs, while not coming close to turning the ball over. He also had 14 yards rushing and a score on seven carries....
