• 2011 Tailgate Information

Thanks to our friends at Keith F. Walker Oil and Gas, LLC, we will once again be holding our tailgates this season at the Casa Blanca building at 103 W. Boyd St., on the northwest corner of Boyd and Jenkins.

Check out the link at the bottom of the page for exact location. Just the same as in years past, we will have the entire parking area (except for five spots held back for the KFW folks who own the building), plus the outdoor patios, for the tailgate. The RV is long gone, but we schlep a trailer with all the gear, and we'll have a couple of rented porta-johns at each game. The only special rules here are to stay out of the landscaping at the building, to not leave a mess when we go, and to keep all people, vehicles, and everything else within our marked area and not go onto any neighboring properties, particularly the Greek House's parking north of our area. Everything will be clearly marked. All of this should be easy, but I can't emphasize it enough - we need to stay out of the landscaping, stay off of adjoining properties, and not do any damage to anything or leave any kind of mess at all. If we do any of these, we're liable to get booted right then and there.

Start times for tailgates will be announced as game times are announced. Road game tailgate details will be announced as they are finalized, although there is a decent chance we will not tailgate at any road games at all, what with the price of gas and such. We will not be tailgating at Texas. If we tailgate at any road games, we may not be able to secure a guaranteed spot beforehand. If that happens, we may end up with just a start time and a cell phone number to call on game day to find out where the tailgate is located.

As is the norm, we will have DirecTV satellite TV at all tailgates. We have the ESPN GamePlan, so all televised games will be available during the tailgates.

Menu selections are TBA and will be posted weekly by Dean. At any road tailgates, there will at least be free drinks. Food will be announced on a per-game basis for road games.

Donations to the cause will, as always, be cheerfully accepted via the glass milk bottle near the TV, but are not required. Everyone is welcome to bring something to share. The tailgates are open to all, including those who just lurk on the message board or rival fans who frequent the board. Our sole purpose in running the tailgates is just to have a bunch of fun. Many times, the tailgates resume after the games while traffic clears out.

All tailgates generally wind down about an hour before kickoff, although someone is always there during the game, and things usually resume to a limited extent after the game. Maybe not so much this year with all the night games. A map to the tailgate location is below.
