I saw where Sam Bradford had slipped from #! in the Nation in passing efficency to third and I thought well someone had a really good game this week. Then I checked the stats and I don't get it.Listed below are the passing stats of Teel(Clemson),Tebow (UF),Bradford(OU):

Teel 38-57-1 int.-8TDs-863 yards-66.7%

Tebow 45-61-1int-8TDs-835 yards-73.8 %

Bradford 59-74-1int-11TDs-823 yards-79.7%

Bradford has a better completion % than both, and a signifigantly better TD-int. ratio. They both have thrown for a few more yards(40 for Teel,12 for Tebow),Can that make the difference? The only thing else I can see is Bradford has thrown more passes, however since he is also completing a higher % I would think it would even out.

I know in the big picture it makes no difference,as long as we win, stiillI don't get it.

((Y x 8.4) + (T x 330) - (I x 200) + (C x 100)) / A

the big difference is the yards per attempt

Yep, it is all about yards per attempt.

And TDs/attempt

Thanks for the info.Doesn't seem to me that a 2 or 4yard per attemt difference (respectively) should make that big a difference in rankings. As for TD production ,Bradford throws a TD once every 6.7 attempts,Tebow a TD every 7.6 attempts.Teel,a TD every 7.1. Interception avoidance(or rate of interceptions thrown) should figure in there somewhere )Sam throws a pick once every 74 attempts.Teel is at one in every 57,Tebow one in every 61.I guess the system is what it is but is flawed IMHO.In any case I think third is pretty doggone impressive.

Would you like a guy who throws for 4 yards per pass attempt, 6 yds per pass, or 8 yds per pass?

EDIT: Continuing, whose averages would you rather have?

15.14 yds/att (Teel, Rutgers)
13.69 yds/att (Tebow, Florida)
11.12 yds/att (Bradford, Oklahoma)

I really wouldn't trade Bradford for Teel right now, but Bradford vs. Tebow is a very tough debate. Besides, simply basing QB play only on yds/att is pretty silly.

Teel plays for Rutgers, BTW.

I'll be back later.

Don't forget Bradford would have over 1,000 yards if he had played full games instead of leaving early in the blow-outs!

I'll be back later. We are talking about 11,13,15 actually not 4,6,8.
I also think td-int ratio should be a bigger factor.

And about 20-40 more attempts.

INTs should be weighted more, I agree.
