There are numerous annual awards that recognize top college players by position. I, for one, believe there should be a award, sponsored by a "name brand", for college football centers. They work hard, toil in relative anonymity, and get all sweaty and stuff. About the only time a center garners attention is when he makes a bad snap...like over some punter's (can you say "Michael Cohen"?) noggin.
Sooooo...How's about we all clamor for an "Oscar" for Best Danged Center?
My proposed sponsor? Why, Snapple(TM), of course.

I think thats a good idea. Seriously, I object to the term "skilled positions". Its like linemen don't have to have any skills to play. Ask Sammy what he thinks of our non skilled players.

The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979-1982.

A member of the National College Football Awards Association the Rimington Trophy serves as a fundraiser for the Boomer Esiason Foundation's fight against Cystic Fibrosis. I

Come to think of it, i've not seen an award devoted to a player coming back from injury or the like. surely i've just missed it.

A COMPANY sponsors the best player at a position that seems connected to a product/service they provide.
