Well, it's not that illogical if you think about it for a second. I mean, IF the US went to a nationally-based system of healthcare insurance rather than the employer and/or individually provided system we have now... (ignoring the socialistic problems involved there for now) then really, the only people who WOULDN'T have proof of health insurance would be undocumented workers. So, requiring proof of health insurance for employment, in that context, would be one way to cut down on undocumented workers.
