More things to hit do not necessarily make one the best drummer.

Having a drum set that flips around in the air while you're drumming? Yeah, THAT does it.

you gots to be kidding...right?

I will concede to the Buddy comment...for he set the standard by which all others are judged by...But tommy ficken lee...come on...Lars even puts him to shame...

And as far as the have more drums thing...hey HE PLAYS THEM ALL...no one else could sit behind that set and do the things he does...FACT...Alex VH,for me anyway, is a close second

I consider Alex the most improved drummer between the first album and subsequent (sp) albums.

Don't forget Bonham, copeland

BR is the Standard and Peart is the Professor though.

Phil got his face removed in MSG.

Most underrated drummer ever? Don Brewer.

I wouldn't say they are unnecessary if they all make different noises when you bang 'em and you make sure to bang them all at some point during a show.

Besides, Peart makes use of them all while doing beat/rhythm combinations that make metronomes squeal and cry.

Nope. Wasn't really an appropriate chance. I'm going to wait until this tour is over and just ask him over at his house sometime.

Maybe tomorrow. I have to take them to show to my drummer friends to see if they really **** their pants or if that's just a figure of speech.

Phil, How would you rate the MSG crowd? I saw The Police there on opening night in NYC and the crowd was way too corporate - too much client shmoozing and too cool to get down.

Oh, and Ginger Baker rawks most all drummers.

I thought it was a pretty good crowd. As usual, mostly into the older stuff and not so much the new album, but rocking hard on a lot of songs.

John McEnroe was behind us pretty much all night.
