Reggie Smith or Marcus Walker? I think it is closer than most people think. I mean RS gets a lot of hype while MW just quietly goes about shutting down anyone he plays against...I would have to say they are pretty much even. I am glad we have both on our team!

I am glad they are both on OU as well but if I had to choose one I would choose the veteran senior MW... plus all of the injuries he has overcome incredible!

Including Marcus' performance in the first game, Reggie.

He is def. a shut down corner...hard to get open on him

Marcus is real nice guy too. I've met him once.

I don't know Reggie, but all of the Edmond people I know that played with him in HS like him.

I saw Walker with his back to the ball not once, but at least twice and flagged both times. Eventually cost us a TD. I need more convincing.

How about burning a redshirt to play because Eric Bassey couldn't get the job done and playing since the 04 season? (minus the injuries)

Using Madden/NCAA style rating, I'd give RS a 97 with coverage as his strength. I'd give MW a 94 and tackling his strength. I think they are both pretty good, but RS is more of a shutdown corner, IMHO.

from watching on TV, we always see MW make some great plays defending the pass.. you don't usually see RS defending very many passes.. BECAUSE THEY NEVER THROW AT HIM.

they are both GREAT corners but I think that speaks for itself.

This might be a dumb question, but could MW try to appeal for another season? If I remember correctly, he played first in 04 against A&M in College Station and then possibly one more, the big 12 title game against Colorado, and the loss we don't speak of against USC. so at most he played in 4 games, I think only three? Not to mention all the injuries he had in 2005 that cost him playing time

Thoughts??

It may be possible for him to get a medical redshirt but I don't know all the rules on that.

Marcus Walker is looking at NFL money post 2007... I don't think he's too worried about Oklahoma.

What round do you think he will go?

He played too late in the season.

Second round

That sounds about right... late second. He's not going to be an All-Pro, at least not immediately, but he's definitely skilled enough and has the tools to be a good corner in the league.

Walker has excellent cover skills, by the way. One of the times that "he" was playing with his back to the ball on the goal line and it drew a PI, it was DJ Wolfe.

Depending on his combine, he could go as high as the first round.

Second is pretty high for a kid like Walker that's been injured so often.

I'd love for him to be a first day guy, but he might fall to the second day. Way too early to tell though.

I don't care which one is better as long as together they are the best.
