Many of the NU fans that bought Wake Forest season tickets to go to the NU game donated the remainder of the season to the local Army hospital for recovering wounded soldiers to use.

Nice story, I've always had great respect for the fans my issues are with the coach and his comments a few years back.

That's good to hear.

Although Nebraska abuses 'good fans' as much as A&M does with 'tradition' and Pokie State does with 'historic'.

Always pointed out by a native. ;)

I have found that most NU football fans are great... when they're winning. Nice to hear what they did for the soldiers regardless.

the fans also show you where you can and cannot stand on the sidewalks with an open adult beverage so as to not run afoul of johnny law

which i think is pretty nice

Nothing was cooler for me than hearing the crowd chant "Go Big Red" after we lost the heartbreaker to Texas last year.

I've always been proud when the crowd applauds the opposing team, win or lose, coming off the field.

We ain't perfect, and I'm not saying we're better or worse than any other group of fans, but my fellow Huskers make me proud more than they embarrass me.

When did you bugeaters start saying "Go Big Red"? As a kid in the '50's, I always thought of the expression as something us Sooners said. Didn't know anyone else used it til years later.

Huh. I've always thought it was cooler to be yelling "Boomer Sooner" after winning a game against Texas. ;)
