Oklahoma's Malcolm Kelly certainly is the most economical receiver in the nation.

He also is the best.

Five of Kelly's eight catches this season have resulted in touchdowns. He continued that trend Saturday by reaching the end zone three times in a 51-13 victory over Miami.

His huge performance against a solid Miami defense has catapulted Kelly to a No. 1 spot in the Rivals.com College Football Power Rankings, which measure the top players and coaches at each position.

With news like this, Bradford's insane passing efficiency, and #3 ranking in the AP....I think it's safe to say we can forget about staying under the radar the rest of the year.

It should be 6 of 8, but Manuel Johnson forgot how to throw.

Did you notice that KW was their #1 OC. No spek for BV though, not listed in the top 10 DCs, and Pellini was #1.

Pellini should be #1 he has had outstanding defenses whereever he has been.

Differences of philosophies is why it dent work at OU. Kinda makes ya wonder though

Pelini's defense didn't look too great here towards the end of 2004 when we were giving up tons of fun to USC, A&M, and Oklahoma State. :\

Methinks the dude is overrated.

... and I just noticed you wrote a sentence disclaiming why it didn't work here.

Definitely makes ya wonder! I just don't think he clicked with the coaching staff, especially since he bolted to work under the deranged Les Miles.

Pelini plays a very disciplined defense

Sam Bradford even cracked the QB list.

I won't argue with much, but dont you think Bradford should be higher than:

"McCoy has thrown more interceptions than TD passes." :texan:

agree with you yermon. I have no problems with Venables, I love the man.

Bo Pelinis defenses speak for themselves as well

Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson joined Kelly atop the power rankings this week. Wilson replaced Florida's Dan Mullen as our top offensive coordinator after helping the Sooners score a total of 130 points in redshirt freshman quarterback Sam Bradford's first two games as a starter.
This part is false, it's 123 points!

Kelley will be a marked man for the rest of the season. Watch out for opposing defenses which will try to double team him and hurt the dude. I only hope he stays healthy and that Bradford doesn't always go to Kelley when he is double covered. Double teaming Kelley should open up the other receivers, TEs (JJF, Gresham), fullbacks, and even the RBs.

We have scored 130 points. It stated that the Sooners scored the points not that Bradford scored them.

Yeah, I see Bradford going to a back or TE as a safety valve due to the shorter intermediate routes and Sam being comfortable with them. D's will key on "Kelly", but they will have to pick their poison with #'s 9,18,19,&7.

Personally I don't care if this Kelley character is a marked man or not. Just means more free space for Malcolm Kelly to get open downfield.

oumartin
9/11/2007, 09:22 PM
yeah, and I don't know if you can stop Kelly anyway

You knew it was coming. I mean, Billy Sims had that Simms guy help him carry the load.

Well I'm hoping for great things from that Demarco Murrey guy also.

This entire conversation just shows one thing: Defenses will have the chance to choose how we beat them and who gets the glory that day.

and Joachim Iglasias can do great things when he gets the ball.

ya know BBS reads this board and now you guys are gonna have him so confused he'll never get a name right again.

Course he might not have anyway

as long as BBS can still pronounce 'Ballpark' correctly, he'll keep his sponsor happy.

It was in reference to Wilson not Bradford...

Here's some good bulletin board material:

1. Slingin' Sam doesn't make the top 25 QB list.

2. Only three Sooners on the offense Top 25 at their position - Kelly @ 1, Grishem @ 17 and Duke @ 7,

3. On defense, Smith is the only Sooner in the Top 25.

I'm lovin' it!

Sam Bradshaw will win the Heisman this year.

Crucifax Autumn

I doubt it, and not because he's a freshman. The problem will be the vote getting split when Sam, Malcolm, and either AP or Demarco are all worthy by mid season. And that's not even taking into account a few D players that may work their way onto the watch lists. We're a team and teams tend to have split votes.
