Today is the one year anniversary of my fathers death. He faught for this country in the Korean War and was a proud member of the 45th Infantry Division. Today being Patriot Day just makes today all that more special.

Dad was one of the War Boys that Bud Wilkenson recruted to play at the University of OKlahoma. Dad played for Bud from 1953-1954.

I think I meant 'happy' as more of a 'be proud'.

It's tough to be happy on a day like today when everywhere you look the media is waving around buzzkills.

Today I reminded my kids about Patriot's Day and they already knew about it. Seems the school reminded them to wear red/white/blue today in honor of 6 years ago and all that went on.

I'm glad (at least in their school) they are teaching the kids to remember and not forget. No one should ever forget. It's important not only for us adults to remember, but for us to teach the little ones as well.
