i was supposed to give a presentation to new doctoral students on Max Weber. when i left my apartment my neighbor had her radio on really loud....i thought it was kind of annoying and unusual (she knew).

when i got to the coffee place i went to in those days, there was a big food service trailer truck with both doors open and the radio as loud as could be. i still didn't really get it, but i heard what they were saying. the guy had quit deliveries and just cranked the radio.

i walked to the CU school of Journalism where I knew there were TV's and watched the rest. terrible.

I don't know about where you are, but the weather here in NE Oklahoma today is precisely the same as the weather throughout much of the country that fateful day. Brilliant blues skies, clear as a bell and crisp without a hint of mugginess.
