One of the national media stories I read about the Miami game I read(forget which one) referred to OUr defense, as the "Austin English-led defense."

The guy looks awesome so far...I see him getting better though as the competition picks up a bit.

Auston English and Ryan Reynolds have impressed the **** out of me so far.

Ryan has a lot of things to work on before he impresses me.

On defense, English, Lofton & Walker have all been top notch.

Rhino - where, in your opinion is Ryan deficient? He looks pretty good out there to me, complementing Lofton.

Pass coverage is the most glaring deficiency.

Yeah I agree. Stopping the run and when he is blitzing he is great. He looks lost when he drops into coverage somtimes

Don't you think the coverage improvement will likely come with game experience? For some reason Venables keeps talking about how he's always in the right place.

I didn't think much of his play against UNT but thought he looked really good against Miami.

I like to watch make the plays go to the other side. IMHO he is a special player.

The pressure English brings is exciting. I thought the rest of the line played really well too, esp Williams. I think Reynolds will improve a great bit. To me, he seems to be CLOSE to being in the right place, just slightly out of position. He seems to have a real nose for the ball, he'll get there. The continued improvement of our line will really help the rest of the D.

He is a beast in the mold of a long line of dominate SOONER DE's.

I would hope to hear more name of our DE Mccoy more during the game. Too bad it was not even mention once.

no pass rush during that drive, so i'll cut the coverage some slack. linebackers aren't expected to cover a guy more than 4 seconds at the most. we will be fine when the nickel back is in there on obvious passing downs.
