A&M won't be ranked for long. Miami will beat them in Miami.
Rutgers wouldn't be the 4th best team in the Big XII South.
Ohio State is WAAAAAY overrated.

I would have to agree, other than the pity votes for Appy State.

First, we have USC getting less first place votes, now that the preseason hype is dying off... and they're taking the week off.

Next, we have losing teams moving down in rankings or out of rankings. That is always a good thing.

More importantly, we have teams that played close games that kept their fans breathless moving down in rankings. A&M is a shining example. Fresno State... FRESNO STATE?!?! Wisconsin is another example... Texas too... woot.

A lot of AP writers take time to think about the rankings, rather than asking some shmo "Hey, did OU win or lose? They lost? ok... DOWN five spots!" Coaches do care about rankings, but it isn't their primary job. So, maybe that's why OU is #3 in the AP and #5 in the coach's

We're obviously in the information age. But it's physically impossible to follow all the teams you'll consider to vote for in any poll.

If it were up to me, the polls would not be voted on until Tuesday with the results released on Wednesday.

I'd really rather have USC to bust up in New Orleans. I realize, of course, that this kind of talk is WAY out of line considering all the things that have to happen between now and then, but as long as we're talking about dream matchups, I want to see our boys avenge that embarassment of TGOWWDNS. Also, LSU in the Big Sleazy is a home game for them and I found that there were a great number of drunk coon-asses that were absolutely disgusting, both before and after the event. The one TD loss, while painful, was at least a hard-fought and close battle than we came up short on, while TGOWWDNS was pretty much beyond description.

9/9/2007, 06:22 PM
Ugh...if we're going to be stuck with the stupid poll system, they could at least wait until at least 1/3 of the season has been played to start ranking teams. Virginia Tech should not have been in the top 10, maybe not even top 20, and WVU and Louisville are borderline top 10 teams.

Boooom!
9/9/2007, 06:33 PM
Oh look.. USC is still #1 by virtue of playing just one game.. and oh yeah, being #1 before they beat one nobody...

It's just like in baseball. You have the starting pitcher who comes out of the game after the 6th or 7th inning (Osborne - Ace, Solich good number 2 starter) and then the setup guy comes in to carry the load for a bit. Get the game to a manageable situation for the closer (Callahan) and then you bring in the closer (TBA.)

So really, Callahan is the right guy for the job at this particular point. He set the thing up, so that the next guy can come in and get all the credit for the win.

Jimbo Fisher will be the next head coach at Nebbish.

Okay, I'm just being a tard now.

I agree. we need more respect!! I just hope Huskers win against USC then we will definitely move up to 2nd.

We need to keep running up the points so when the BCS poll comes out we can have enough to be at number 1 or 2.

My husband (HUGE MIZZOU FAN) says yes. he feels they should be around 23 or 24. He's hoping Nebraska will beat USC, then Mizzou beats Nebraska. then he THINKS Mizzou will beat OU but of course I had to set him straight on that one.

If we do end up running the table and going to the title game, I want us to play the worst team possible (aka the Big Ten or Big East Champion). Neither of those conferences do much for me this year.
