I would assume it would be considered part of the field. just as if it hit an offical

You do bring up a good question. I was wondering something similar when I did the Virtual tour of the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium. They have that gi-friggin-gantic display hanging right above the field.

That sounds like the same rule as when a FG bounces off the goal post back on to the playing field.

I remember Ray Guy of the Raiders hitting the scoreboard at the Lousiana Superdome with a punt. I'm not sure, but I think that they replayed the down and he had to kick again. That was the NFL in the 1970's. God, I'm old.

The bottom of that display should be higher above the field than the existing Texas Stadium structure, much higher than the speaker pod is now.
