No Sooners made this list, but I was a little surprised to see former Sooner Tashard Choice coming in 9th.

But what surprised me is Appalachian States QB Armanti Edwards got a vote. Can a D-1AA player even win the Heisman, or is this just a joke?

Trying to look for the positive, we have no Heisman candidates because our wins are a team effort.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

AGREED! :)

Just happy for Tashard, I'm glad he made a move that suits him well.

Yes. Steve McNair received votes in his final year.

ESPiN should self-promote some more...

5. Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers
Because of the national attention Rutgers has received, and also some he'll play in some big ESPN-televised games late in the season, Rice will have a chance to impress the entire nation.

Once again anti-frosh bias bites Sooners.Where is Bradford?

1AA, Div. 2 players are eligible to be Heisman candidates.

1994 Steve McNair (Alcorn State) finished 3rd
1987 Gordon Lockbaum (Holy Cross) finished 3rd, 5th in 1986
1985 Joe Dudek (Plymouth State) finished 9th
1984 Jerry Rice (MVSU) finished 9th
1977 Doug Williams (Grambling) finished 4th
1971 Ed Marinaro (Cornell) finished 2nd (division classifications had not started yet)

I am sure there are others but everyone was in the same level before the division break-ups started.

I think any player could get votes, I-A, I-AA, II, III or NAIA. Gordie Lochbaum of Holy Cross ended up third in the voting in 1987, they were I-AA at the time having just moved up from D-III. Now the odds of anyone not in I-A of winning are very, very slim.

Northern Illinois, wasn't it? Garrett Wolfe? That sounds right, but I dunno.

NIU is in the MAC and Wolfe was pretty awesome until he hit a 4-game skid where he averaged 47.5 ypg against Western Michigan, Temple, Iowa, and Toledo.

Speaking of ESPN, NP and I got the most recent magazine. There is a feature on North Texas preparing for Oklahoma. Players talking like they could actually win it, Dodge reminding them of Boise State and adopting an offensive style like the Fiesta Bowl...

Turns out they should have featured Appalachian State. Fun read!
