View Full Version : Much as I hate to give credit to USC, this was a nice gesture

On USC's first extra point against Idaho this weekend, they lined up with everyone but a kicker and let the clock run down to 0, taking the delay penalty. They did this to honor Mario Danilo, their kicker who died this off season.

Think they would have done that against Oregon or UCLA?

I thought was cool too. Like the missing man formation.

Yeah, actually, I do. It's not like backing up five yards on an extra point is going to make it much more difficult.

I probably came off a little calloused. My apologies.

No prob. I figured you didn't mean that the way it came out.

Kinda like what we did to open the season without Vernon Grant when we kicked off with 10 players.

I still remember what the N.Y. Yankees did before the first game they played without Thurman Munson, who died in the plane crash back in '79. When the Yankees took the field, the only position player that didn't take the field was catcher, who then took to the field just before the opening pitch. Incidentally, that catcher was Jerry Narron, who later became the manager for both the Rangers and the Reds.

didn't KSU do something like that honoring a punter in our game with them a couple of years ago?

Oh, wait, the punter they were honoring was on the sidelines. And they forgot to take the delay of game.

props to usc.

I just thought of something else. UT lurkers, help me out. When the 'Horns played North Carolina back in 2001, they went for two points late in the game and got it. The reason was that they wanted to score 44 points, the same jersey number as (I can't think of his first name offhand) Pittman, the player who died in a car wreck during the offseason.

we should score 77 on everyone, just out of respect for aTm.
