Iraqi soldiers trading in AK's for M-16's

I know this will probably interest, like, 3 people here. It looks like that they'd rather have the AR than the AK in The Iraq.

The AK may have a reputation for being more reliable than the M-16, however at least with the AR you can actually hit the broad side of a barn. (I use them to shoot prairie dogs at ranges up to 600 yards)

My little AR-15 has never jammed with brass cased ammo and it has thousands of rounds through it, except for one time when SoonerWood was shooting it and the case broke inside the chamber, which is the ammo's fault. I do confess, though, that as a civilian, I don't have to drag my rifle through mud and sand and still expect it to work.

The M-16 has always gotten a bad rap. I ran the hell out of mine through Camp Pendleton, 29 Palms, and The Iraq and the damn thing never let me down. I don't know how many rounds I fired during my 6 years in the USMC but it never failed once. Not only are AK's practical POS's at >250 yards they're made from untreated stamped steel which rust like a mofo after exposure to muck and water. I came across a stock pile of AK's after GWI and I'd say 3 out of 5 were corroded so bad that you couldn't pull the bolt back.

Most gunshops will have them. A nice one will run over a grand. You can also build them from a kit, which can be somewhat cheaper.
