From Staff Reports
The Oklahoman

Oklahoma running back Chris Brown has been suspended for the Sooners' season opener Saturday against North Texas.

Oklahoma coaches said Brown was suspended because of an "internal issue.”

More information to come.

That sux!!!! But on the bright side that just means more carries for AP, Murray, and Gutes. We should be ok for the opener. Lets just hope this is a learning experience for mr. brown.

Sounds like he may have missed a class or something along those lines. KInda sucks, he'll mov down the deth chart.

Question is: if Allen Patrick isn't ready for sat's gam, can Demarco carry the ball 25+ times?

This could be good, hey its only one game and it against North Texas. It will give Murray experience and to see what the difference from high school to college is. Yes we will miss letting Chris Brown be a third down back and getting 3-5 yards everytime but its only one game so I think we should be just fine.

Hopefully Chris gets everything sorted out and this doesn't happen again.

"Suspended," people... no one said "indefintitely" or "dismissed." Chris will be alright if he gets his act together for whatever he's done. Knowing Stoops, the suspension could be for anything ranging from missing class or curfew, to problems with the law. I don't think it's a huge deal, just an oppurtunity for CB get get thy shat togetha.

8/27/2007, 09:24 PM
So, Brown is suspended. Patrick, hopefully, will still rest.

We'll play Murray, Gute & Madu and win the game by five touchdowns instead of six.

Not ideal, but still very above par for a very below par opponent.

Well, it's not a good start. If AP is out, we don't have a "hammer the ball at them" RB with Brown being suspended. So yes, if the top 2 guys (arguably) are out, then depth is stressed.
I know we'll probably be OK against UNT, but we have a talented team the following week on the slate. I would rather not face them short handed.

CB wasn't a smash mouth guy really. He weaves through traffic nicely and kinda looks like he's tripping and falling. It's not a pretty style of running, but I will say it's smooth.

Let's have some love for Brown! No one knows what was done, yet. He could have passed in a summer school term paper late and been less than contrite about it. Or it could be more serious. I don't know, and neither do any of us.
I'll trust Stoops, but I won't stop liking Brown til I know a lot more. And if nothing more is said and he just comes back for Miami, I'm good with that. It's Stoops' team and he's done all right with it so far.
OU will still hammer UNT silly.

the other 3 rb's are basically the same weight if not more. gute is only 5'6", but has one of if not the hightest squat on the whole team. we have basically the same "pounders" we have with brown. personally, i don't see us losing anything in that department. jmho.

i dont know why most of you guys are fretting over this, brown wasnt gonna get as much playing time this year anyway. theres no point in having 2 adirian peterson style running backs and a reggie bush type as well. murray will end up getting more carries than patrick

UTisLousy
8/28/2007, 08:50 AM
Man, some of you need to relax. It's just one game. He probably was late for a team meeting or something. Give him a break. Can we stop calling Murray a Reggie Bush type. While they both have great moves I think Murray is going to be tougher than Reggie Bush.

Nobody knows. The players aren't talking, and they shouldn't. Whatever "it" was, it was minor, and hasn't happened since April. That's all that should really matter.

why would they move their starting safety? It would be stupid to move him there. murray will get a lot of carries and so will AP but murray will get more time on the field cuz he can play slot while patrick is in the backfield
