So much for the cross-town rivalry... If UCO's not actually a student organization the ACHA could shut down the team.

Police bust hockey captain’s party
Nine arrested in one week as alleged social hosts
John A. Williams - The Edmond Sun

EDMOND — A party with several members of a local hockey club cost the alleged captain of the team some time in jail.

Edmond Police arrested 22-year-old Andrew Joseph Alfrey on a complaint of violating the city’s social host ordinance.

This is the ninth arrest in one week of individuals accused of allowing underage drinking at their residence.

Police were called to the Spring Creek Apartments at 777 E. 15th St. just before midnight Thursday on a report of two people fighting. When officers arrived they noticed a woman, later identified as a 19-year-old, who appeared to be intoxicated.

She told officers she was attending a party at the complex. Her companion told officers he was a member of the University of Central Oklahoma’s hockey team and the captain of the team “was having a few people over.”

But UCO spokesman Charlie Johnson said the hockey team is not an active student club at the school nor is it a part of the athletic department.

“The club does not meet the requirements for a student organization,” he said.

Officers contacted Alfrey at his apartment and according to the report said he had about 14 to 16 people at the party.

When he was asked how many were under 21, Alfrey allegedly told officers “probably 12 or so.”

The report also states Alfrey said he provided the alcohol because “we’re all hockey players and that’s what we do to bond as a team.”

Officers identified 15 of the 21 people at his apartment as under age 21.

Several of them admitted to drinking beer.

Johnson said he could not comment on the arrest but did say Alfrey’s alleged offense comes under the university’s student discipline guidelines that could require him to take an alcohol abuse class online and write a paper on the effects of alcohol.

That is interesting.

How quickly would the ACHA move to revoke the team's status as a member in good standing? Could it be done before the season starts, during or would it not take effect until next year?
