Mine's working.
I still don't know why they switched systems though....and I don't know the difference between the old Mail and the new Exchange

Sun's costs $50/year/user (at least for the newer version)
I think Exchange costs $67/user (note no yearly fee)
That's a lot of savings over a 3-4 year product cycle.

they charge you for student email?

No, that's what it costs OU in licensing fees to run it. (At list, anyway.)
(Of course, they really do charge us, it's just hidden somewhere in the tech fees...)

for education, i believe Sun only charges per full-time professor, not per user. i wouldn't think those numbers include support for Exchange either

Didn't I read a week or so ago that you guys just changed your e-mail system?
If it's Microsoft Outlook Web Access then you have my sympathy. I absolutely freaking hate it.
It can't be configured for POP access through Thunderbird which is my biggest complaint. Although, it is fully compatible with my Blackberry. But in order to get all the features and use out of it you have to use IE and there's no way I'm using that POS.

if POP in Thunderbird doesn't work it's because of your implementation, not Exchange.
IMAP is much better than POP anyway, IMO

Well, there is IMAP. I could use Outlook apparently but I don't like Outlook so I'll just continue checking it directly from the web.
There is no POP access to your email. We highly recommend not using IMAP for security reasons, and Outlook set up in IMAP mode is not supported. Accessing your email using IMAP is not as secure as using Outlook in Exchange mode. We strongly recommend that you use Outlook in Exchange Mode, or use Outlook Web Access located at http://mail.baylor.edu

IMAP and POP should have the same security issues, i'm not sure why they wouldn't just use IMAPS though

OU mail not working again?? Typical, always had that problem the 2 years I was there. You would think they would have better services to make it not mess up.

it's the best way to talk to an exchange server anyways

yeah, even it's bloated as hell
i might not hate it as much if there was a real version for Mac/Linux

i haven't installed Office 2007 yet, it sucks that the junk isn't backwards compatible like previous versions

I've been using 2007 for a little while now.
It's not so great for power users who know where everything is already (because it moves it all around), but the new menuing system does a great job of displaying features, so it's much better for non-power users.
