NASCAR still sucks........and it's the reason why OU/Miami is an early kickoff.

Tickets were going from $150 to $1500 here this week.
Crazy rednecks everywhere, 160,000 in the stands tonight. Thunder outside, they stayed dry last night.

I went to the spring Busch race. Tried to get a pic of the Oklahoma Centennial car, but it wrecked pretty quick.

Stewart sounds pretty fired up. The drivers play it up a little, but I think they really dread Bristol sometimes. Tony says this may be the best race, entertainment wise, in 15-20 years.

I want to go to the Bristol night race once before I die.

Come on up! Mrs. Rogue just finished repainting the guest room. Tickets to the spring race are sometimes hard to come by, for the night race they are very scarce. It's an allllll-day dealio, and you need not be in any hurry to leave after the race because parking and traffic are awful. Even though I live about 25 minutes from the track, I'd like to go and camp one year. The campgrounds look fun. This year, they moved the motorcycle parking down the road about 3/4 of a mile in the bar-ditch. Used to be right smack in front of the track on pavement. Motorcycles have an advantage getting around up there, if you survive the traffic getting there. The new m/c parking is teh succ though. I can't imagine what a mess it'd be if it rained.

Ebay can be your friend for tix to the night race.

Christmas time the do "Speedway in Lights." You get to drive through the drag area and end up taking a lap around the track. Several times I've ridden up there on my motorcyle and could have gotten in for a lap. One of these days the temptation will overcome me.

What a tease on the start!

Drivers I'd like to see crash right now:
Gordon
Kurt Busch

The only thing I don't like about this race is you can't tell who is in 1st place and who is in 31st place...other than the thingy scrolling across the top of the screen.

That's worse being there live. Unlike the huge tracks though, once they drive by, they're right back around and in front of you again.

Rogue

I have a cool bet with 2 guys at work.
I have Tony, they have Gordon and JJ. Each week, the 2 guys that get beat give the winner $5. If he wins the race outright it's $10. Makes every race interesting...until your driver crashes.

Rogue
8/25/2007, 07:46 PM
I like Montoya's style. Last night they interviewed a bunch of fans that thought he wasn't respecting the seniority of the other drivers, shouldn't be so aggressive while he's new, yadda yadda. He's out there to try to win every week.

VeeJay
8/25/2007, 07:47 PM

you know, I'm not much of a "see it live" guy. I've been to NFL, NBA, MLB, OU Football, OU Basketball etc... It's kinda cool, but I really don't get off on fighting a bunch of people and traffic to see the real deal.

I've never been to a NASCAR event, but I'd love to see the Bristol night race.

the company I work for has a suite there this weekend and all of the gearheads at our office were trying like hell to talk their way into a ticket this weekend. We did take 40 or so customers...the way everyone talks, the Bristol and Talladega races are the rowdiest...

I didn't think last year's night race could have made for a more drama-less race.

I was wrong.

And very disappointed.

Are you sure we weren't racing on a downforce track where one or two guys hit on their setup and the other cars just simply play a game of follow-the-leader?

Whet

David Poole, from the Charlotte Observer and Sirius, compares the new Bristol with a Michigan race. He is supposed to discuss his reasoning tomorrow morning on Sirius.

Sooner24
8/26/2007, 05:36 PM
It was a very atypical for Bristol, that's for sure.
