so this afternoon my immediate supervisor calls me and says the VP wants to see us both. so i walk in, and my sup gives me this look like "i dont know why we're here"

my bull**** meter went off instantly

he has this really bad habit of talking in circles without ever getting to the point, using big words and just playing games

they are taking me out of the position i've been in and putting me back where they originally hired me for.....which is fine.....however there are a TON of middle management functions i perform that i'm guessing he's not aware of

so he goes thru this dog and pony show about how he wants me to write a plan for how the position will function within the company.....no biggie

but he's also telling me that i'm being pulled out of my duties and responsibilities within the department.....again, no biggie

but he then ends the meeting with a bit of an ambush........while he was gone a month or so ago, i reversed a liability decision of his, and paid a claim he doesnt feel we owe. so he's already emailed his evidence of my "screwup" to the VP who has it all opened up on his computer

of course i dont recollect why i did this without having the time to go back and review it, so i ask "ok, so lets say i made a mistake here, what is it you want from me on this?"

"dont do it again"

ummm, ok.......no problem, why ....as my boss, didnt you just call me in your office and tell me that i screwed up and "dont do that again"......instead of putting on the big show for the VP

he tells me that he had talked to our insured and gotten a "new accident description"......which of course is not documented whatsoever....he also didnt include the page of the police report where our insured says "i changed lanes and didnt see the other driver"

i've applied for 5 federal jobs and for the first time ever, i've been qualified and my resume forwarded to the selecting official .....which is more than i've had in the past

god i hate that job...

So, you work for a Mickey Mouse operation and you want to work for the US Government? I'm having trouble seeing the improvement in working conditions...

There are Border Patrol agents still, but there is no Border Patrol Agency.

Just to clarify

Ok. But don't say you haven't been warned! And enjoy that NSPS thing.

warning duly noted

reevie

NSPS is the new pay system. It's been hung up in the courts for about 3 years now. But if the CBP has already transitioned to NSPS, you'll get it enjoy the "benefits" of it while I wait for the courts to give it the green light.

jk the sooner fan

are they all getting their paychecks?

sanantoniosooner
8/24/2007, 09:56 PM

yeah........I could bore you with my wife's explanation of the new pay system, but it doesn't matter.

DOD is spearheading the thing and everyone else is following suit.

reevie
8/24/2007, 10:00 PM
Oh sure. Nobody has shut the government down for what, 12 years? But from what I hear they are making less than they would be if they weren't in NSPS.

sanantoniosooner
8/24/2007, 10:03 PM
Basically you get paid for performance now instead of straight grade increases.

But a supervisor can move you ahead quicker than they used to if they want.

jk the sooner fan
8/24/2007, 10:08 PM
the annual step increases are gone?

the gs-13 position would still be a huge pay raise for me

if i took the 12 position i doubt i'd stay at the base pay level forever

You get increases based on merit.

8/24/2007, 10:55 PM
what, merit based pay

you mean people actually have to perform to get a raise...

oh the ****in horror

soonerboomer93
8/24/2007, 10:58 PM
oh, and we did merit based bonuses while I was at Dish.

All they had to do was basically show up, work their hours and have a good handle time. Maybe do a couple hours of extra time a week. You could get up to a 20% bonus on your entire months pay (including all your over time). It was like pulling teeth with the vast majority of employees. I had more ncns employees "quit" on me then you would believe.
