Specifically Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, or Pretoria, but anywhere would be fine. Some friends and I are planning a trip to go there in a few years so I'm looking for any advice on where to go, where not to go, what to do, just anything a traveler would need to know. Thanks in advance.

No, but I know a guy that spent two years in Lesotho, and traveled extensively in SA.

The Republic of South Africa, the country of 3 capitals.

RSA has produced some talented golfers (Goosen, Els) and an actress (Theron).

Jo'burg is like Dallas, just in the middle of Africa. It's kinda weird.

Don't let them know you hang out with Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh, they might axe your girlfriend.

Diamonds, David J. Matthews, and Charlize Theron are among their great exports. Isn't SA where people have created all kinds of interesting anti-car jacking devices like flamethrowers and skilsaws mounted on the car?

Are you going for the World Cup in 2010? I readh today where the organizing committe says that they will be ready...

I used to work for a company based in Belgium and we had manufacturing facilites in RSA, but i never went - however, some of the guys i worked with said that some of the resorts there rival the south of France (whatever that means:confused: )

If you go into museums and such you will find that the development of South Africa was strikingly similar to the development of the U.S. with the distinction that the U.S. developed from East to West and South Africa developed from coastal to inland.

It takes some getting used to - seeing the Conestoga wagons under attack by the Black Natives as distinguished from the Native American Natives. Other than that, the historical art from that period is amazingly like visiting museums here.
