What is a reputable brand of briefcase, and where is a good place to find good deals on them? TIA

Heh. Ballistic armor and no metal components so it'll go through airport security.

wait until you start your job and then buy one from your office supply place.

paying for anything that you can get on the company account and can somewhat justify needing is for chumps. remember that.

it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I don't use a brief case. So passe'...

You could get one of those thick ones with a plastic handle and look all geeky.

What I carry is more of a laptop bag (actually, it is a laptop bag) but Tom Bihn bags are the win.

I have the zephyr - they come with a lifetime guarantee or something like that. I love my new bag.

Personally, I just traded in my breifcase for a backpack - lugging breifcase with a laptop through airports starts to hurt your shoulder after a while - picked up an OGIO backpack with separate pockets for my ipod, laptop, cell phone, etc...much easier on my back.

also has a lot more room than a breifcase...

But you only look cool if you carry it on one shoulder!

I have both a backpack and a messenger back for my laptop (17" widescreen). I tend to carry too much in the backpack though and everything settles to the bottom. The messenger I can't carry as much as I want though.
