I've never been in one, it's pretty cool.

Early this morning it was really well defined, even had an 'eye'

We're land locked in Mustang for at least a few hours. Tried to hit 7-11 this morning and 3 out of the 4 ways out were flooded and the 4th was nearing impassable.

It's not nearly as bad here as in Edmond though. And Ski Island looks as if it's about to lose it's island classification.

I just got a call from my grandmother in Altus, about OKC and Norman (bear in mind, I'm 1300 miles away in FL). I answer the phone, "Hello?". Without preamble, Nannie says "Oh my God, have you heard about Norman?" "Uh, no, Nannie...what's going on?" "It's GONE."

I BEG YOUR PARDON?

Okay, she's lived 87 years so I cut her some slack...but I about had a heart attack. I ask a few hurried questions, feeling guiltily thrilled that my middle Marine is in MO helping his GF pack to move to Norman. I turn on CNN, hoping to find info, and log onto the net, pulling up three windows for 4, 5 and 9 (yeah, I know they're not really those channels now, but they are for my memory).

Come to find out, yeah y'all have gotten rain, winds, tornado watches and stuff...but y'all are obviously still there, right?

Jeebus, I gotta ask Nannie if the dramatics comes from her time in the classrooms of Poke U.

Seriously, are y'all okay??

We're fine. Lots of rain, some wind damage around the metro, flash flooding. Nothing that we havent seen before.

Saw that this morning on the NWS Natl view, thought I'd come over here and see how yall was doing.

Sure wish you'd send of it up here. Were more than half a foot below normal of Precip for summer, and are in a Severe drought. Not to metion we had a non-existant severe weather season.

We've seen alot of pictures and videos on the National News from the flooding down there from the past months.

Stay safe, and try not to drown.:)

Meh, All I noticed was a steady rain, but I guess im used to worse when it comes to tropical storms. The extensive tornado coverage was quite interesting though.

I wasn't here at the time, but people down here talk about Tropical Storm Allison like it was last year where it rained over 36 inches total and 6 inches per hour in some areas. A storm much like Erin basically came over the city then stopped, did a U-turn and just sat there.

2 friends of mine (one is studying broadcast meteorology at Miss State and the other at TAMU) said they were taught that it can no longer be a tropical storm or depression that far inland but the news stations kept referring to it as a TS and a TD. The one at TAMU said after it has been inland for more than 48 hours it's referred to as a low pressure system. This is a first she said (one at TAMU).

She is a grad student in meteorology and will make some contacts tomorrow on this. This is the report I gave her and she was totally in shock.

I was in the play room and wife had on the news and I could have sworn they said that the winds from this storm made it a CAT 1. Can anyone confirm this? That would be cool! We had a Cat 1 hurricane hit okc!

OKC > Tulsa

Yes, that was reported on TV...and I believe it was true from a rain standpoint....un-fricken-believable....

The news report I saw had wind gusts up to 80 mph, but I think hurricane winds are measured by substained winds.

The RAIN was the problem not the winds....

Bullsh*t! When it went over Lake Hefner, it was no longer 'inland'! Therefore it was a Hurricane! A real honest to God Hurricane! Yes!
