It's one of five regional covers, but good for AP!

Why DON'T they call him AD, by the way?

Oh, and congrats to Ian Johnson. YOU were not one of the cover boys.

McFadden, Slaton, Hart, USC trio and Patrick.

Ian Johnson isn't in a place that will sell mags per population density. in a normal year if he played for syracuse (inferior to Boise over the last decade, maybe)....he might make a cover as "the giant slayer".

Classic. If Latimer wraps up Jamaal Charles he has no cache whatsoever.

Which goes along with the fear he strikes in the opposition.

If there wasn't such blatant downfield holding (not called), Jamaal Charles he has no cache whatsoever.

This was it.

The Sooners looked likely to go into halftime trailing by that margin, but Antwone Savage returned a kickoff 81 yards to the Texas 16. The Longhorns helped keep OU's drive alive with a false start on fourth-and-2, then Hybl threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Trent Smith.

ahh yes, the play where they hadn't even called a play just lined up to make them jump

Hybl had his moments :D

sooneron

How can the D get called for false start?

And as far as the cover goes, I think it's weak sauce to divide the country up regionally instead of going with one national cover. That is usually the great thing about SI, they can stir the pot with who is on the cover, now it's like they are trying to make too many people happy.

B/c it takes 3 socal backs to equal 1 AP. At least some of our backs have performed on the field. Socal's RBs are on SI b/c of what they did in high school. YAWN.

Not that special teams aren't important, but you'd really sacrifice his production as a back for a few tackles on special teams???

Yeah, I would. Of course, I'm assuming Brown, Madu, and Murray are as good as I believe them to be.

Provided my memory isn't overly flattering, it seems Patrick made a lot more than "a few tackles" on special teams. I especially value Patrick's ability to tackle, given it's noticeable absence the past few years.

Patrick is a serviceable RB, and I don't think he ever really caught on as a D-1 safety, so Stoops moved him where he's at. I don't think he's all-world, but he's definitely the starter until someone outshines him.
And I think the leading ST tackler was Lewis Baker if I'm not mistaken... that guy is teh sith on teh ST!!!11

I would give Patrick a bit more credit than calling him "serviceable". Though I would certainly stop short of saying he's currently a very good running back. He may get there. However, first he needs to show some improvement in ball security.

Allen Patrick's potential is summed up in that nifty play he had against aTm (the one that got called back on the phantom hold). A few more Playstation spins like that, and I'm ready to call him a very good back. He attacks the hole like an antitank missile, has great acceleration, decent vision, and he is fast in the open field. He only really lacks elusiveness, ball security (a big one, no doubt), and lateral speed. All IMHO, of course.

It can't hurt us that Chris Brown, Gute, and Mossis Madu/DeMarco Murray stand by to show their stuff. They have all looked great at times.

anyone know where to pick up a SI in the hills and trees area? Preferably in the lil messico district around 31st and Garnett. I've been to Walgreens, Warehouse Market, Drug Warehouse, Drug Mart and a couple QTs with no luck...

That's fine with me. Let's save articles about AP for DURING the season, not BEFORE. So much hype before a season...I want results and then praise.

Brown looked pretty good. But I'm surprised you'd stick the most experienced back on the team, who has proven he can be the starter, on special teams. We've got talented running backs, no doubt, and they might overshadow AP in time. But right now he's the known commodity with experience. No offense, but I'm glad you're not on the coaching staff.

actually, he's listed as the top senior running back in the country. i'd let him get the majority of the carries and find creative ways to use our other talented backs.
