Admittedly this is message board banter but it does appear that the rest of the college football world isn't about to let USC slide on this matter. The post that is most interesting is the one halfway down the first page that quotes one of the investigators as stating USC is stonewalling and that the feds may use their supeona power to try and get to the facts.

Not so fast partner. Gerome Knowles described the USC staff as a "stone wall". They volunteered no information and answered questions about what was already publically known already. The rest of the time they declined to comment or cooperate until they finished an "internal" investigation. Just a quick FYI though. Rumor around the ESPN offices have it that there is something big brewing regarding USC and NOT just about Bush. Talk is that a FEDERAL agency may be getting involved. This is important because FEDERAL agencies have something the NCAA does not. SUBPEONA powers. Meaning they have the authority to compel the USC staff to talk, compy, and cooperate or go to jail. Keep an eye out. Many think the Feds flair for the dramatic will cause them to time the revelation with something sensational. Like the opening game.

Nothing is going to happen to USC.

if we got punished like we did, considering our level of cooperation and self reporting...then if punishments are handed down on USC, they should be HEAVY.........HAMMUHED

USC AND OJ must have the same lawyer. Nothing ever seems to happen to either one of them no matter what they do

Johnnie Cochran is dead and we shouldn't be wishing all the bad fortune in the world onto them right now (Texas is the better alternative). We can think about USC when we play them at the end of the year in NO.

Just tired of hearing about USC that's all. When something actually happens then I think I'd be more interested.

Well, I live in LA and I see the USC players driving around in some PRETTY DAMN NICE RIDES and wearing designer clothes with biiig diamonds in their ears and gold around their necks and I see them mingling with A-List celebs and dropping fat rolls of cash at bars and restaurants.

But I'm SURE they're not getting paid. They only recruit the children of rich parents.

Listen. There is one thing and one thing only that is keeping USC safe and it will continue to do so until something changes...

USC is the ONLY football team in the LA market. (UCLA doesn't have the same national following and isn't as good). Until LA gets an NFL team (and pray that they do soon) then USC will have a bulletproof vest on as far as the NCAA is concerned. They'd lose too much money if USC got busted for anything major and had to lose ANY post season games, broadcasted TV games or *gasp* possibly scholarship limitations or the death penalty!

Ain't gonna happen, unfortunately. And Pete knows it. That's why he keeps handing out the cash and bringing around the A-Listers to hand the cash out for him.

Everyone in LA knows this is going on. They're walking around, smiling, 'cause they all know they're getting away with something.

A later post by the guy who appears to have some connection to ESPN:

The federal agency in question did not begin the investigation. They have been approached and asked for thier help. The jurisdictional issues are being worked out (if they havent been already). Watch and see. CFB is about to change. BIG. Congress already took a look into the BCS last season, dont think they turned a blind eye because of the concessions made to satisfy them. CFB is big business. Federal control/oversight is always a possibility and never far away. Watch and see. Watch and see................

BTW, who is Mark Schlabach?

I live in Orange County, south of LA, and I too get tired of all the USC crap in the paper. Example, USC believes they already have the MNC.

I hate USC much more than Texas.

I saw a few guys wearing USC garb at the PGA last week. It was all I could muster not to throttle 'em in the junk.

Maybe, but I'd be vilified in the press and throughout the LA community and that would hurt my businesses quite a bit. Probably cost me more than I would make for the sale of the pics.

You sure you wanted to do that to their "junk?" I'd stick to a swift kick, if I were you. ;)

how about swiftly kicking them in the junk in which the end result is a massive throttling of the scrotal region.

You're absolutely right. Even all the way down to Newport Beach, it's all all USC and only USC. I will say that up near Malibu that you see more UCLA stuff but that's only because of its proximity to Pasadena IMO. But anyway, you're right. USC is the flavor of the month with bandwagonners galore. Don't ask them anything about the history of their team or what the world was like before Carroll's run (or even during Carroll's tenure--'neer a single SC fan I've met remembers Carroll getting dominated by Utah in the Las Vegas bowl just a few short years ago).

I hope they get torn down to the foundation, and the earth under the campus is salted so nothing will ever grow there again. (Mostly, they should be punished for making me dislike them almost as much as I dislike Notre Dame.)

But I won't hold my breath for anything.

me neither, as much as i'd love to see them set back about ten years.

the only thing i like about usc is watching them lose.

Amen Bro, it was ditto for Miami back in their Big East heyday immediately following the Dolphins departure from the OB. Look for a similar story evolving out of Rutgers in the coming years.

Big TV markets = big bucks = NCAA blind eye.

usatoday 2006 (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/pac10/2006-05-02-usc-cover_x.htm)

Carroll, amid allegations of NCAA violations involving two of USC's biggest stars and a shocking sexual assault arrest, said Monday that he believes the Trojans will escape NCAA probation and forfeiture of games or titles.

"With the little bits of information that I have, no, I'm not worried about that one bit," Carroll told USA TODAY and the Associated Press in a telephone call. "I'm more concerned about helping the process and cooperating to make sure that everything comes to the front. I'm confident that's not where this is going."

Yep... he thinks he's bullet proof.

How much is the doggie in the window...just curious... how much would a house like this go for in california, i'm assuming it's about 2-3 time the amount as it would be here in houston? It's reggie's folks house right before the draft.

Depends on the neighborhood.

Anywhere between 800k and 1.4 mil in the LA area. Dip down into the OC or up into the valley and the price drops a bit.

People (especially USC lovers) always claim it's not that big of a deal because of property values and location... it's still illegal and if you punish one... punish all. I'm sure Alabama, Miami, OSU, tOSU... everyone feels the same. Well... maybe not Okie Light, they probably think Bob Stoops is responsible for what Reggie Bush was doing.
